About
Who's Behind the Microscope?
I'm a working screenwriter and script analyst with over a decade of high-level experience in development. As a consultant, I've worked with writers at every stage — from emerging voices to seasoned professionals. I've judged for major screenplay contests and evaluated material for funding bodies, fellowships, and production companies. I've also consulted on films already in production, including one for a BAFTA- and Emmy-winning writer.As a screenwriter, I’ve written for television, had a feature optioned, and won the Grand Prize of a major contest, so I'm uniquely placed to understand both sides of the process.I started Script-Science to offer writers something better than vague notes or AI-generated babble. My focus is on detailed, honest feedback that respects your time and your vision. Think of me like your script's pathologist: I diagnose what’s working, isolate what isn’t, and help you build something stronger.
My Approach
What's in the Petri Dish?
Every script has its own strengths, weaknesses, and core design. I break it down to the essential elements and examine how they’re functioning. Here’s what I focus on in every draft I read:🧠 Premise – Is your concept clear, compelling, and hooky enough to carry the story?
🔧 Structure – Are the story beats landing where they need to? Is the engine running?
👥 Character – Are the leads active, distinct, and emotionally grounded?
🧩 Story Logic – Does everything track — motivation, cause and effect, escalation?
🎭 Dialogue – Is it doing the heavy lifting? Does it sound like it came from real people?One thing I DON'T give are scores. In my experience, scores can take a writer's focus off the analysis and reduce nuanced feedback to a grade. I prefer to focus on how to improve the material without placing a simplistic label on it. This isn’t school — it’s surgery.
